This pen pouch can even hold XL-sized pens.
The yellow cloth inside is a microfiber cloth called Urushi Clean, which is made specifically for lacquer-coated surfaces. The inner cloth allows you to put the pen in the pen case after it has been wiped clean by the action of putting the pen in and taking it out.

When this pouch is open, there is a pen bed space where you can temporarily place pen caps and pens themselves. You can place your pens using the pen holder, which is a fastener. The pen holder is made of wood, so you can place your pens gently without damaging them.

The pen rest is finished using a technique called "tame-nuri," in which brown transparent urushi is applied over Fuki-urushi. Both ends are finished using a technique called "raden," in which shells are glued together with green urushi, and green urushi is applied to the gaps between the shells, and then the pieces are polished. Both are made using precious natural urushi produced in Japan.

The string is called Sanada Himo. The warp and weft threads intersect at right angles, and the weft threads are strongly driven and compressed during weaving, resulting in a durable string with almost no elasticity. This is a traditional string that has been around since the Edo period in Japan.

The pattern on the kimono-obi in this issue is a vibrant yet subdued fabric with wheels, flowing water, chrysanthemums, and other flowers. The wheel pattern is a representation of how, during the Heian period, oxcart wheels were immersed in rivers to prevent them from drying out and cracking. The wheel is depicted half-hidden in water, and is often depicted together with flowing water patterns, and is also frequently used in maki-e patterns. Furthermore, because the wheel rotates, it can also have deeper meanings such as "changes in the world" and "reincarnation in life."
Each piece is unique, and no two are alike.
